Vertek Geotechnical and Environmental News

Hi folks! Thanks for stopping by. We've been working on many new products over the last year and have greatly expanded our equipment offerings. Here's a few highlights.

1. All of our new VTK series cones (1", 1.25", 1.44", and 1.75") communicate with a single software and data acquisition package.

2. All of our VTK environmental modules and probes (1.75" UV Ultra Violet Video Module , 1.75" Fuel Fluorescence Detection FFD Module, 1.75" Soil Moisture Resistivity Module, 1.75" Gamma and pH modules, 1.75" Color Module, and all VTK series 1.25" probes also communicate with the new VTK series software and acquisition package.

3. Our LVUV UV Ultra-Violet Spotlights are now available in a pistol grip hand held form factor with dimming capability, momentary on, as well as toggle on.

4. We've been working diligently on percussive (hammerable) probes for use with a Geoprobe® or an AMS PowerProbe. We recently completed a Fuel Fluorescence Detector Probe that is a inexpensive alternative to the LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) system. We are currently working on a probe that will detect Coal tar, Creosote, and Crude oil. It should be available as an 1.75" CPT module as well as a percussive probe by June of 2012.

5. We've developed a UV as well as visibly illuminated Video Module. This member of the VTK series family is a great tool to send down hole behind an FFD module. It's can easily provide visual confirmation of the aromatic hydrocarbons that spiked on your Fuel Fluorescence graph. Imagine being able to see the fluorescence down hole meanwhile and aiding in the verification of a contaminated layer without having to take a soil sample.

Immediate Savings - This innovative technology produces savings at each step in the site characterization process. The auger mounted delivery system generates minimal investigation-derived waste, reducing containment and disposal costs. Additional savings are realized due to a reduction in time required to complete the investigation.

Continuous Measurement - Vertek’s Auger Mounted FFD provides a continuous, real-time output of fluorescence through the entire sounding. This information can be viewed graphically in real-time with Vertek’s Android Based Data Acquisition System (DAS) as the probe is advanced, providing a more complete characterization of the plume’s extent than traditional discrete sampling techniques.
