Our trailer mounted penetrometers are available in 10 and 20 ton configurations. They come mounted on high speed single axle (optional dual axle on a 20 ton) trailers designed for over the road and rough terrain towing capabilities.
They have two double acting hydraulic cylinders coupled by a platen and bridge assembly. They can be configured with either hydraulic of mechanical clamps.
Both models are powered by 11 horsepower gas engines with a manual starter, and the hydraulic pump is mounted externally from the oil reservoir to facilitate easy maintenance.
The penetrometer has a heavy duty air filter for the engine and an automatic overload protection feature. The frame of the penetrometer is built as light weight as possible, but can amply resist the stresses produced during penetration and withdrawal of the sounding tubes. On the 10 ton unit the hydraulic cylinders have a 10 ton pushing and a 13 ton extraction capability.
The 20 ton unit has a 20 ton pushing and a 26 ton extraction capability. The frame has a bridge assembly to allow for mounting of hold down beams where screw augers can be attached for added reaction weight. The unit is equipped with mechanical leveling jacks ( automatic hydraulic leveling jacks can be furnished) and is totally self-contained. Cones, rods, hydraulic anchoring and other accessories are furnished separately.
