What is CPT testing equipment used for?

Cone Penetration Test (CPT) equipment is used to determine the subsurface stratigraphy in situ (in place) and estimate the materials’ geotechnical parameters. Geotechnical engineers typically use it to determine the necessary construction requirements for infrastructure – roadbeds, bridges, buildings.

What is a CPT rig?

CPT (Cone penetrometer or penetration test) rigs are used for pushing CPT cones into the ground to obtain readings such as tip pressure, friction sleeve readings, pore pressure, and seismic readings. Vertek CPT rigs can be track-mounted and anchored into the ground with augers or truck or trailer-mounted.

What is CPT drilling?

The cone penetration or cone penetrometer test (CPT) is used to determine the soils’ geotechnical engineering properties and delineating soil stratigraphy. Based on this history, it has also been called the “Dutch cone test.”

What is a CPT machine and is it different than a CPT rig?

CPT machines are used for pushing CPT cones into the ground to obtain readings such as tip pressure, friction sleeve readings, pore pressure, and seismic readings. These are the smallest 10 and 20 ton CPT machines on the market.
