VERTEK's patented oil Sampler is built for reliable, cost-effective retrieval of minimally disturbed soil samples in difficult geologies. Designed to be pushed with standard CPT equipment, this Soil Sampler collects full sample tubes for geotechnical or environmental laboratory testing.
Strong and Reliable
The patented tip release system is strong enough to withstand heavy push loads in stiff soils, yet reliably retracts at the desired depth. The tip load is transferred through retract-able steel wedges which provide greater load bearing area than the steel balls commonly used in other samplers, and wall thickness of the load carrying members has been maximized for additional strength. Surfaces subjected to intense abrasion and potential scoring (tip, cutting mouth, and sample barrel) are cut from hardened alloy steel and easily replaced in the field. Other components are machined from high strength stainless steel.
Easy to Use
The Soil Sampler's simple design makes it easy to use. The sample barrel with retract-able tip is pushed to the desired depth, a lanyard lowered through the push rods then retracts the tip back into the tip catch housing. With the tip retracted, the lanyard is removed back to the surface and soil sampler is ready for sampling. Advancing the probe forces the soil in the sample tube. The probe and the rod string are then retracted, bringing the sample to the surface. The sleeve containing the sample core can be removed, examined and logged, or capped and sent to the lab for analysis. Longer samples can be obtained easily by threading multiple sample barrels together. The sample sleeve can be stainless steel, clear plastic, or split depending on the level of visual examination desired. The sampler can be rapidly disassembled for field decontamination.
